Privacy policy

This policy explains what information TrendCanopy (“we”, “us”), at trendcanopy.pages.dev, collects when you visit, how cookies and advertising work on this site, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Marcia Pat Reid.

Information we collect

  • Information you send us, for example when you email us. We use it only to reply and keep a record of corrections.
  • Technical data that any website receives, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes this data to deliver and secure the site.
  • Privacy-first site statistics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure page speed. It does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint visitors and does not track you across sites. It collects data such as the page URL, referrer, browser and device type, country and performance timings. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
  • Analytics data, only if you click “Accept” in our cookie banner: pages viewed, referring site, device and browser type and approximate location, collected with Google Analytics 4.
  • Advertising data, if and when we show ads: see “Advertising and Google AdSense” below.

We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not ask you to create an account.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:

  • Essential storage: your cookie choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask again.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics), only after you accept.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless, so it runs without setting any cookies.
  • Advertising cookies set by Google and other ad vendors, if we run ads (see below).

You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We plan to show ads through Google AdSense to support the site. When ads are enabled:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • Learn how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and read how Google uses cookies in advertising.
  • If you opt out of personalized ads, you may still see ads, but they will be based on general factors such as the page you are reading.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before personalized ads are shown.

Third-party links and embeds

Our articles link to outside sources such as news sites and government pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Your rights as a U.S. resident

Depending on where you live (for example California under the CCPA/CPRA, and states such as Virginia, Colorado and Connecticut), you may have the right to know, access, correct or delete personal information, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and targeted advertising. You can opt out of personalized ads with the Google Ads Settings link above or by rejecting cookies in our banner. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required by law. Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information (COPPA).

Data retention and security

We keep emails only as long as needed to respond and maintain correction records. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics retention settings. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but the site is served only over HTTPS.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change (for example when ads are switched on) and change the “Last updated” date above.
